The journey of Faith Bible Church is a powerful testament of God’s faithfulness and provision in the lives of His followers. Faith Bible Church is an evangelical church in DeSoto, Texas, dedicated to living to make Him known. A small group of people in Oak Cliff, Texas, began meeting in the fall of 1969 to study God’s Word. Two years later, seven couples who shared a vision for a church centered on Christ and His Word came together. On December 12, 1971, 54 people worshipped together at Redbird Community Center. This became their home for the next few years. The small congregation grew in numbers as God’s Word was proclaimed, and soon the Community Center became too small for the 150 attendees. The church invited Fred Campbell to assume pastoral responsibilities in February 1973, and a permanent facility was purchased on Camp Wisdom Road. The church experienced God’s blessing during those six years. However, by 1979, the church once again needed more space. As the church leaders prayed and considered the needs of their growing community, they decided to sell the building and property to Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship and look for a new facility. The Lord quickly provided a temporary facility, and Faith Bible Church began meeting in October 1979 at Permenter Middle School in Cedar Hill. The church used ten classrooms for Sunday School and nursery care, and the school auditorium for the morning and evening services. Just over a year later, the Lord blessed Faith Bible Church with 15 acres of land in DeSoto. Through the dedication of this congregation, the foundation of a new church was built in April 1981, and a year later, in August 1982, the church was complete. Faith Bible Church has had a long journey with many changes. This beautiful building is the cornerstone of the vibrant, thriving community that exists here today.
