Beneath the tranquil façade of Faik Bey Cami lies a story woven in time. This mosque, nestled between Acıbadem Street and Koşuyolu Street, rests in a valley known as Çifte Cevizler. Faik Bey Cami has seen the passage of years, marked by change and renewal. Originally crafted from wood, the mosque underwent a transformation in 1975. The structure was rebuilt in stone, forever altering its appearance. During this renovation, the wooden mihrab, a prominent feature supported by two wooden columns, was removed and replaced with a niche. The original wooden minaret met its demise before 1975. Now, the call to prayer echoes from a wooden balcony perched atop a weathered oak tree beside the mosque. A later renovation saw the addition of a tall, brick minaret on the right side of Faik Bey Cami. Inside, the warm, inviting wooden minbar stands as a testament to the mosque’s enduring spirit. Interestingly, no inscription exists to pinpoint the exact date of its construction. Faik Bey Cami owes its existence to Hacı Faik Bey. He served as the inspector of tradesmen for the 10th Municipal District. His nearby mansion spoke to his influence in the community. Faik Bey’s legacy extends beyond the mosque. He also spearheaded the restoration of the Üsküdar Tunusbağı Fountain in 1907, a project commemorated with an inscription. Faik Bey Cami, also known as Namazgah Cami, is more than just a place of worship. It’s a reflection of the community’s history, resilience, and devotion.
