What if I told you that the FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE at Udayana University has a history as rich and complex as the Balinese culture surrounding it? The FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE, right here on Jl.P.B Sudirman, wasn’t always a stand-alone institution. Its roots trace back to 1962, the very year Udayana University was born. Initially, it was part of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry. Interestingly, for the first 16 years, this combined faculty only offered courses in animal husbandry. It wasn’t until 1978 that the Department of Veterinary Medicine was established within the faculty. The real turning point came in 1983. A decree from the General Directorate of Higher Education recognized a Veterinary Medicine Study Program. This program, while inter-faculty, marked the beginning of a separate identity. It allowed the university to grant undergraduate degrees, operating under the university’s budget. The FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE finally gained full independence in 1997. The Minister of Education and Culture issued a decree officially establishing the FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE. It was inaugurated on November 8th, a date now celebrated as the faculty’s anniversary. Today, the FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE offers a comprehensive Veterinary Medicine Study Program. This program integrates both academic education (eight semesters leading to an S.KH degree) and professional education (12-15 months of co-assistance, culminating in the drh title). The ultimate goal is to produce skilled and compassionate veterinarians ready to serve the community. The FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE holds an “A” accreditation for both its undergraduate and professional programs, a testament to its commitment to excellence.
