The year is 1727. The Humbarahane a school dedicated to military engineering was established. It was a bold attempt. Sadly it was short-lived. Janissaries violently opposed the school’s existence. Undeterred attempts continued. In 1734 Hendesehane opened its doors. It too faced resistance from the Janissaries. This school too met a tragic end. A shared fate. Three years later it was closed.
