Dedicated to progress, this plaque commemorates the Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology. This institution began its journey in 1945. It started small after the liberation of Manila.
Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology first held classes in a single room. This room was on the second floor of Mapa High School. There were only nine teachers. A clerk and 147 students completed the school. It was then known as Eulogio Rodriguez Vocational High School.
In July 1946, Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology found its permanent home. It moved to Nagtahan, Santa Mesa, Manila. Apolinario Apilado became the principal. Dr. Hilario Nudas succeeded him in 1949.
Several Republic Acts shaped Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology. These acts enabled its growth and development. Republic Act 4072 established a Technical Education Department. Congressman Ramon Bagatsing and Salih Ututalum sponsored it in 1964. This act did not change the school’s name.
In 1967, Republic Act 5088 renamed the school. Congressman Sergio Loyola sponsored it. The school became Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Memorial School of Arts and Trades. It separated from the Division of City Schools, Manila.
Republic Act 6595 converted Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Memorial School of Arts and Trades to Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology in 1972. Congressman Joaquin R. Roces sponsored this act. It made Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology a full-fledged college. It allowed for vocational-technical branches in each Manila congressional district.
President Ferdinand E. Marcos signed Presidential Decree 1524 in 1978. This decree made Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology a chartered state college. A Board of Trustees became its governing body. Dr. Hilario G. Nudas became its first college president.
Today, the Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology thrives. It has approximately 15000 students. It has eight colleges. The institute also has a graduate school. A satellite campus operates in Cavite.
Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology is dedicated to developing students. It focuses on trades, business, arts, science, and technology education. It is also known for strong programs in engineering and industrial technology.
The Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology aims to give underprivileged students quality education. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs. These programs include Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Industrial Education, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, and Fine Arts are also offered.
