Et j’ai retenu mon souffle, meaning “and I held my breath”, perfectly encapsulates the mural’s central image: a ballerina, eyes closed, seemingly suspended mid-air against a backdrop of a cityscape. Faile, composed of Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller, are known for their vibrant, collage-like murals that blend pop culture imagery with vintage aesthetics. This mural, created in June 2016 as part of the Street Art 13 project, was their first in France. The ballerina’s dynamic pose, against the backdrop of a fragmented, almost puzzle-like urban landscape, adds to the breathtaking quality of the image.
