The roar of the crowd still echoes in my ears. Can you imagine the energy here at Estadio Juan Pasquale?

This isn’t just any stadium. It’s the home of Club Atlético Defensores de Belgrano. It stands proudly in the Nuñez district of Buenos Aires. Opened on May 25 1910 it’s one of the oldest stadiums in the city. It’s been through a lot. It’s seen triumphs and defeats. Its history is woven into the fabric of Argentine football.

Defensores de Belgrano started playing in a different location. Their first games were played in Quinta de Oliver. This was a vacant lot. The Municipality of Buenos Aires later developed Plaza Alberti there. The team then moved to its current home on Avenida Comodoro Rivadavia. Some say the land was a gift from the municipality. Others say Baron Demarchi donated it. The original wooden stands? They came from the Argentine Centennial celebrations. They were repurposed for the stadium’s early days.

Estadio Juan Pasquale holds a capacity of 9000 people. It’s known as the “Nest of the Dragon”. This nickname comes from a dragon design. Artist Hugo Arbona created it in 1983. He was a Defensores supporter. One grandstand is named “Marcos Zucker”. This honors the son of actor Marcos Zucker. He was a Defensores fan who disappeared during the National Reorganization Process.

The streets surrounding Estadio Juan Pasquale are vibrant. They’re filled with graffiti. Much of it pays tribute to Defensores de Belgrano. These streets are where fans gather before matches. They form large groups and walk together to the stadium. It’s a pre-game ritual. It’s a tradition. A testament to the enduring passion for this team.

From its humble beginnings to its current form Estadio Juan Pasquale is more than just a stadium. It’s a living monument. It’s a place where history and passion meet. It’s a place to experience the heart of Argentine football. A place to feel the roar of the dragon.
