The roar of the crowd. A wave of sound. That’s the Estadio José Manuel Moreno. Right here in Merlo.

This isn’t just any stadium. It’s the heart of Club Social y Deportivo Merlo. A place where history unfolds with every goal. Every cheer. Every tackle. This stadium opened in 1969. It’s named after José Manuel Moreno. A legendary striker. He coached the team in the late 1970s.

The stadium started small. Just a perimeter fence. Changing rooms were behind what’s now the away stand. New changing rooms were added. Two broadcast booths were built above. The first stand arrived in 1976. It covered the entire side facing Huergo Street. Then came the wooden away stand. The main stand followed. It was also made of wood. Finally the away stand got a makeover. It became the concrete structure we see today. It holds 3800 fans.

In 2000 members built the current broadcast booths. They also added the local stand. It was concrete this time. In 2013 the local stand was renovated. Its capacity expanded. In 2017 the Doctor Guillermo Tomas grandstand opened.

The stadium now holds 12000 people. Expansion continues. This place holds a lot of memories. Of triumphs and defeats. Of nail-biting finishes. Of roaring crowds celebrating victories. It’s a testament to the passion of Merlo’s football fans. A place where legends are made. And where the spirit of the game lives on. The Estadio José Manuel Moreno. A true football cathedral.
