Then, in 2018, as Mexico City embraced its role as World Design Capital, Espacio CDMX was reborn. The building’s restoration carefully preserved Candela’s iconic inverted umbrellas, a hallmark of his innovative style. The three naves, stripped of unnecessary detail, offer a versatile canvas for exhibitions and events. Espacio CDMX isn’t just a gallery. It’s a vibrant hub, hosting everything from design showcases to thought-provoking conferences. During Design Week Mexico in 2018, Espacio CDMX showcased the works of international architects, drawing visitors into the world of contemporary design.
