“Two fires in one week?” someone whispers, their voice a mix of concern and disbelief. You might be surprised to find the Escuela Prevencionista en Seguridad Industrial, the School for Prevention in Industrial Safety, touched by fire, not once but twice in a single week. The Escuela Prevencionista en Seguridad Industrial, located at the corner of Rondeau and Venezuela streets, is dedicated to preventing exactly these kinds of incidents. Yet, in a twist of irony, in 2023, the school itself fell victim to electrical fires. Thankfully, the Montevideo fire department acted swiftly on both occasions. The blazes, attributed to faulty wiring despite a recent renovation in 2017, thankfully resulted in no injuries. Imagine the fifty students who were evacuated, their studies disrupted by the very thing they were learning to prevent. The Escuela Prevencionista en Seguridad Industrial, with its crucial role in training future safety professionals, serves as a reminder that even amidst safety measures, the unexpected can occur. Let’s hope that these incidents serve as valuable lessons for the students, reinforcing the importance of vigilance and proactive safety measures in all aspects of life.
