In the year 2020, when the world shut down due to the pandemic, these classrooms became a hub of creativity. Two passionate teachers, unable to take their students on traditional field trips, found a way to bring the city to them. Utilizing the Minecraft Education software provided through Plan Ceibal, they created “Craftcity.” From a simple grid and a central plaza, students built their own city, expanding it to include urban spaces connected through productive cycles.
This innovative project went beyond just playing a game. It fostered a sense of community, encouraged collaboration and problem-solving skills, and most importantly, allowed the children to explore the world from a unique and interactive perspective.
