What if these walls could talk at Escuela 313? They’d tell a story of community, growth and commitment to early childhood education. Escuela 313 isn’t just a building. It’s a haven for young minds in the Piedras Blancas neighborhood.

Escuela 313 began in a small local building. It now stands as a modern two-story building designed to inspire learning and development. The new Escuela 313 boasts spacious classrooms. Each classroom covers over 50 square meters. They also have unique architectural designs that integrate the outside world with the inside. Light floods in through large windows. The building includes ten classrooms. All have bathrooms.

The school follows the JICI model. This model integrates kindergarten students with first and second-grade students. This eases the transition from kindergarten to primary school. Escuela 313 caters to children aged 3 to 7 years old. Around 400 students attend in two shifts. One shift is from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The other is from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

In 2011 construction began on the new building. The building project cost $39 million. The building covers 1,840 square meters. It has modern educational spaces. There are six classrooms for kindergarten. Four classrooms are for primary education. Every classroom has its own bathroom. They all connect to a big playground. The school can accommodate up to 500 children.

But Escuela 313 is more than just classrooms and facilities. It is a Category APRENDER school. This means it prioritizes students in disadvantaged areas. Teachers get time each month. They use that time to plan projects. These projects consider each student’s background.

Imagine the children playing in the outdoor spaces. They laugh and explore the dedicated psychomotor skills room. It is over 100 square meters. The school also features a dining room and kitchen. The school prepares meals on site.

The growth of Escuela 313 reflects Uruguay’s commitment to early education. The CEIP covers over 80,000 children in kindergarten. These children are aged 3 to 5 years. Most attend schools in cities. The rest attend schools in rural areas.

Escuela 313 stands as a testament to community effort. The teachers and neighbors helped make it happen. The school ensures quality education. It prepares children for the future. As you stand here, think of the laughter echoing through the halls. Consider the dreams taking flight within those walls. Escuela 313 is more than a school. It is a place where young lives begin.
