Escuela 183 Nelson Mandela is located in the Paso Carrasco neighborhood. This area lies within the Arroyo Carrasco basin. The school is part of the Centro Educativo Asociado 183 Nelson Mandela. This newer building is in Carrasco Norte.

These centers link a primary school with a technical education center. This happens on the same grounds. It helps students transition between education levels. It protects their educational paths.

Escuela 183 Nelson Mandela started in 2017. It began with a first-year CBT group. This group shared the grounds with Escuela N 183. By 2018, Escuela 183 Nelson Mandela had its own building. It housed first and second-year CBT groups.

The Administracion Nacional de Educacion Publica inaugurated the center on June 14 2019. Prominent education officials attended. By 2022, Escuela 183 Nelson Mandela reached its maximum capacity. It served six student groups aged 12 to 17.

The school’s educational approach is unique. It offers optional workshops. These TOCs focus on art, theater, music and design. Also TICs and robotics are taught. These are chosen after community input.

Escuela 183 Nelson Mandela includes six classrooms. It also has a computer lab and a technology workshop. There is also a CEILAB laboratory and a faculty room. You can also find administration offices and bathrooms. A sports field is open to the Carrasco Norte community. The school has priority use of this field.

The school’s name honors Nelson Mandela. He was a South African leader for peace and social equality. Mandela led movements against apartheid. After 27 years in prison, he became president in 1994. He formed the first government to end racist rule in South Africa.

Mandela believed education drives personal development. He said education allows a farmer’s daughter to become a doctor. It allows a miner’s son to lead the mine. Also it allows farm workers’ child to become president.
