Escuela 101 Carmelo Colman began in 1934. It was first housed in a building on Burgues Street 3667. Today, this is where the Jardín de Infantes N° 232 stands.

In 1936, Escuela 101 shared its building. Escuela N° 156 from Puntas de Toledo moved its students here.

By 1940, Escuela 101 had grown so much that it split. This created Escuela N° 136 for first-grade students.

As time passed, the original building began to fall apart. In 1958, Escuela 101 moved to a new location. It moved to Criollos 3955. Today, this is Ing. Manuel Rodríguez Correa and Carabelas. It was just a few blocks from the old site. The old building was torn down. A new one was promised.

Finally, on October 23, 1971, the new school was inaugurated. This was more than a decade later. The M.T.O.P helped in its construction. Top officials from Primary Education attended the opening. It was a celebration for Escuela 101 and the neighborhood. Delegations from all local schools came.

On September 25, 1984, Escuela 101 received its official name. It was named “Carmelo Colman.” Neighbors, officials, teachers, and students all celebrated.

Escuela 101 Carmelo Colman is easily accessible. Several bus lines serve the school. These include 145, 150, 2, and 538.

The nearest bus stop is Av Burgues – Ing Manuel Rodriguez Correa. It is only a 2-minute walk away.

In 2022, Escuela 101 was very active. Students participated in various projects. These included Repapel, an environmental education program. They also explored computer science with Microbit workshops.

The school celebrated Halloween. Students learned about its history. They dressed up in costumes. Fifth-grade students visited the Paso a Paso agroecological farm. They learned about sustainable food production.

Escuela 101 also welcomed visitors. Students from Liceo N°18 “Sarandí” led a robotics workshop. Writer Susana Besio Licio shared her books with the students.
