Picture the elegant Villa Rose a historical 19th-century mansion. It stands proudly on the ESA Business School campus in Beirut. This isn’t just any building. It’s a testament to history and ambition.

The ESA Business School itself a beacon of Franco-Lebanese cooperation. It opened its doors in 1996. The dream of establishing a top business school in Beirut was championed by Fayek Abillama. He was the president of the HEC Alumni Association in Lebanon. Jean-Pierre Lafon the former French Ambassador played a crucial role. He believed strongly in strengthening ties between France and Lebanon through education.

Their vision materialized thanks to a partnership. This partnership included the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Central Bank of Lebanon and the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The grand opening in 1996 was attended by French President Jacques Chirac and Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri. A true symbol of international collaboration.

The Villa Rose itself boasts a fascinating past. Built by the Portalis brothers it served as a silk production facility. Later it housed the French embassy counselor. The ESA now uses it for cultural events. It is a testament to Beirut’s resilience. The building survived the Lebanese civil war. Now it is being restored. It will soon be fully integrated into the expanding ESA campus.

ESA’s academic excellence is undeniable. It boasts approximately 250 visiting professors. Many hail from prestigious institutions like ESCP Europe and HEC Paris. The school’s commitment to international collaboration extends beyond its faculty. It actively works with several renowned universities worldwide. These include ESCP Europe HEC Lausanne and the Universita Ca’ Foscari Venezia.

ESA’s success is reflected in its prestigious rankings. In 2010 it secured the top spot in the MENA region. Its EMBA program a joint venture with ESCP Business School is ranked highly internationally. The ESA plays a vital role in shaping Lebanon’s business landscape. It educates future leaders and contributes to the country’s economic development.

Today ESA stands as a symbol of hope. It is a testament to Beirut’s enduring spirit. The school continues to evolve. It is a vibrant hub of learning and innovation. The legacy of the Villa Rose and the vision of its founders continue to shape its future. The ESA Business School is more than an institution. It’s a powerful story of collaboration resilience and achievement. A story that resonates far beyond the walls of the Villa Rose.
