While the exact origins of the Ermita de Santo Domingo de Guzmán are unclear, records show its significance grew in 1778. This was when it achieved parish status. The church then underwent its first major renovation, likely expanding to accommodate its new role. In 1868, the parish priest proposed an ambitious plan: to construct a grand portico using funds from a public collection. This idea, however, faced delays. It wasn’t until the 1880s that the project, now combined with the construction of a bell tower, truly took shape. Even then, progress was slow, relying heavily on the dedication of the villagers. The bell tower, a testament to their perseverance, was finally completed in 1887. Today, the Ermita de Santo Domingo de Guzmán stands as a symbol of the enduring faith and community spirit of Tetir.
