In this dream, a Dominican friar foretold that his son would achieve worldwide fame. They say that Vincent’s mother felt no pain when she gave birth to him. He was named after Vincent Martyr. Vincent began his classical studies at eight. At fourteen he started studying theology and philosophy. At eighteen he entered the Dominican Order. He faced temptations urging him to leave. His parents even asked him to become a secular priest. Through prayer and penance, he overcame these trials.
