\u00c9rdi j\u00e1r\u00e1s finds itself in the south-western portion of Pest County. \u00c9rd is the town where the district seat resides. You will find \u00c9rdi j\u00e1r\u00e1s nestled within the Central Hungary Statistical Region.

Geography shapes destiny and \u00c9rdi j\u00e1r\u00e1s is no exception. It shares borders with several other districts. To the north lies Budakeszi District. The east connects with Budapest and Szigetszentmikl\u00f3s District. R\u00e1ckeve District sits to the south. Martonv\u00e1s\u00e1r District in Fej\u00e9r County is to the southwest. Bicske District also in Fej\u00e9r County borders to the northwest. Seven inhabited places make up this diverse district.

These include one urban county three towns one large village and two villages. \u00c9rd serves as the district seat. Other key locations include Di\u00f3sd Sz\u00e1zhalombatta and T\u00f6r\u00f6kb\u00e1lint. These municipalities contribute to the district’s character.

In 2011 \u00c9rdi j\u00e1r\u00e1s was home to 116510 people. The population density was 632 per square kilometer. This figure reflects a vibrant community.

\u00c9rd itself boasts a rich history. It has been inhabited since ancient times. Archaeological finds suggest human presence dating back 50000 years. The town was first documented in 1243. Its name possibly derives from the words “erd\u0151” meaning forest or “\u00e9r” meaning stream.

During the Ottoman occupation the Turks captured \u00c9rd in 1543. They transformed it into a strategic stronghold. The Turks constructed a motte castle and a mosque. The area was known as Hamzsab\u00e9g during this period.

Later in 1684 Charles of Lorraine’s army defeated the Turks near \u00c9rd. This victory marked a turning point. \u00c9rd became an oppidum a market town in 1776. The K\u00e1rolyi family gained ownership in the early 20th century.

\u00c9rd experienced rapid growth between 1991 and 2001. It became one of Hungary’s fastest-growing localities. In 2006 \u00c9rd gained the rank of city with county rights.

Today \u00c9rd continues to evolve. It balances its historical legacy with modern development. Its diverse population and strategic location make it a vital part of Hungary.
