It started with a small cohort of just twelve students, sharing space with the company itself. In 1995, Princess Diana graced the school with her presence, inaugurating its new, expanded location in Chelsea. This marked a pivotal moment, transforming the English National Ballet School into the internationally renowned institution it is today. The English National Ballet School maintains a close relationship with its parent company. Approximately one-third of the English National Ballet’s dancers are graduates of the school, a testament to the quality of training provided. Students from the school often grace the stage in the English National Ballet’s touring productions of “My First Ballet”. They also contribute to the main stage productions of both the English National Ballet and other prominent UK companies. The school itself mounts performances that attract critical acclaim, showcasing the dedication and skill of its students. Beyond its three-year program for 16 to 19-year-olds, the English National Ballet School offers a variety of training opportunities. These include an associate program, short courses, adult classes, and a Graduate Trainee Programme. This ensures that the passion for ballet can be nurtured at all ages and stages of development. Each year, an astounding 300 young dancers audition for a coveted spot among the thirty first-year places.
