In 1932, George Jeffreys, a prominent evangelist, came to Edinburgh. He shared “The Foursquare Gospel.” This message emphasized Jesus as Saviour, Healer, Baptiser with the Holy Spirit, and Coming King. His efforts led to 800 conversions. A church was born. Initially, Edinburgh Elim met in a former cinema in Stockbridge. Later, it moved to George IV Bridge. Finally, it settled at its present site at Holy Corner in Morningside.

Edinburgh Elim is part of the Elim Pentecostal movement. This movement has over 550 churches in the UK. It has roots in the Welsh revival of the early 1900s. Elim celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2015.

Since 2013, Pastor Gordon Allan has served as the Senior Leader. In 2020, the church expanded. They pioneered a campus church plant in Haddington. Pastor Mike Johngrass leads this new campus. They also started developing a growing online church community.
