Over time, with the influx of Hispanic and Latino families, the church’s composition changed. El Buen Samaritano UMC, from the Rio Grande Conference, then merged with Elmwood in 2012. This fusion forged a new identity, one reflected in the name itself: Elmwood-El Buen Samaritano UMC. The church, with its dual languages and cultures, is a haven of both tradition and adaptation.
