The area experienced rapid urbanization, fueled by industrial activities and the presence of the railway. This growth unfortunately led to the disappearance of many agricultural lands. The church is located on Avenue Claude Monet, a fitting tribute to the Impressionist painters, and perhaps a nod to the Parc des Impressionnistes, a residential development built nearby in the 21st century. The late 20th century brought economic shifts, with the departure of industrial activities leaving behind numerous brownfield sites. The Église Saint-Barthélemy has witnessed the changing fortunes of its surroundings, from a desolate marsh to a bustling village, from industrial prosperity to modern residential developments.
