The school was housed within the Dominican Convent of St. Maria.

In the 1980s the school expanded. More classrooms were needed for an increasing number of students. The number of Dominican nuns teaching decreased. Gradually more secular teachers joined the faculty.
The Edith-Stein-Gymnasium faced financial challenges. In 2000 it was transferred to the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising. A major renovation was completed in 2018. This included a new light well and modernizing classrooms with whiteboards and Wi-Fi.
Today the Edith-Stein-Gymnasium offers a comprehensive education. Students choose between language science and business/social science tracks. Each path is designed to nurture individual talents and passions. Students benefit from a range of extracurriculars. These include musical theater sports and foreign language programs.
The school’s name honors Saint Edith Stein. A Jewish woman who converted to Catholicism she became a philosopher and Carmelite nun. She was tragically murdered in Auschwitz in 1942. Her life embodies the search for truth and the courage to live one’s faith.
