Established in 2011 Edgefield Secondary School opened officially on July 12 2013. Edgefield Secondary School sits proudly in Punggol Singapore. It’s a co-educational government school. From the beginning Edgefield Secondary School has championed unique programmes. One such programme is its focus on Taekwondo. This martial art is more than just self-defense. It teaches discipline respect and perseverance. Many students achieve black belts by the end of Secondary 4. Their Taekwondo team excels in competitions. In fact Edgefield Secondary School holds a Singapore Book of Records achievement. 1400 students created a human formation of the SG50 logo. They even broke 2800 planks setting a record.
Beyond Taekwondo Edgefield Secondary School offers a wide range of Co-Curricular Activities or CCAs. There are currently 23 active CCAs. These include sports clubs performing arts and uniformed groups. Edgefield Secondary School also uses technology effectively. They have an Apple Education Programme for Secondary 1 students. This programme helps them learn macOS. The Future Ready Programme combines elements of previous learning initiatives. It focuses on preparing students for future challenges. Edgefield Secondary School also pioneered a mixed-stream form class system. This innovative approach benefits students’ social and emotional growth.
Edgefield Secondary School has seen leadership changes over the years. Mr Leong Kok Kee served as principal from 2011 to 2016. Mr Lee Peck Ping took over in 2017. Currently Mr Simon Foo leads the school. The school has also undergone aesthetic improvements enhancing its learning environment. Edgefield Secondary School has a strong focus on character education.
