Imagine a community united by faith and a shared history. This is the story of Ebenezer Community Church, a vibrant hub of the Liberian diaspora in Minneapolis. In the heart of Brooklyn Park, the church stands as a physical testament to resilience and hope.
Formed in 2000 by Pastor Francis Tabla and his wife Christine, Ebenezer Community Church was born from the tragedies of war in Liberia. Driven by a desire to support fellow Liberian immigrants, they planted a new chapter in Minnesota. Their faith-filled journey saw them through the challenging years, building a strong community and finding their place in the tapestry of Minneapolis.
Their dedication paid off in 2004 when they purchased 4.3 acres of land in Brooklyn Park. This marked a turning point for the church, finally having a place to call their own. Through tireless effort and the generous support of their community, they were able to pay off the mortgage in 2013. A year later, construction on their first phase of a new building broke ground. This remarkable achievement, completed in 2016, provided the church with a 14,000-square-foot facility, offering a multipurpose gym, classrooms, offices, a kitchen, and storage.
Ebenezer Community Church’s significance goes beyond its impressive architecture. It is a place where families find solace, children learn about their heritage, and people gather to celebrate their shared faith and culture. Their impact extends beyond their walls, reaching out to the wider community with programs and ministries that address diverse needs. This church is a place of hope, where individuals find support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.
