In 1972, a small group of 18 people gathered in a humble building on Diceman Street in Dallas, Texas. This was the humble beginning of the Eastgate Missionary Baptist Church. The founder and pastor, Reverend Dr. Homer Dewell Reagan, had a vision for a church that would reach out to the community and offer a sanctuary for all. The church soon outgrew its original location and moved to a bigger building on South Tyler Street. The church continued to grow, embracing a “whole man” approach to ministry, addressing spiritual, physical, material, and educational needs. In 1989, the Eastgate Missionary Baptist Church found a new home on South Polk Street, right in the heart of Dallas, Texas. This beautiful location provided ample space for a growing congregation and continued the church’s mission of serving the community. Pastor Reagan’s vision for a comprehensive Christian ministry, embracing the needs of the community, was fully realized. In 2015, Kennedy Young Jr. became the second pastor of the church, continuing the legacy of serving the community. The church stands today as a beacon of faith and hope for the community, continuing to fulfill Pastor Reagan’s vision for a thriving church that embraces God’s love and reaches out to all.
