Have you ever wondered about the history of this majestic building? You’ve come to the right place. Right in front of you stands Eagan High School. Built in 1989, Eagan High School is a shining example of how technology plays a key role in education. Ever since it opened its doors, the school has been a pioneer in embracing technology, with its motto, “Technology-enhanced education with a human touch”. In the 1970s and 1980s, Eagan saw rapid growth. As a result, the nearby high schools, Rosemount and Apple Valley, were overcrowded. In 1987, the school district appointed Thomas F. Wilson to plan a new high school and middle school. To save costs, they were designed to share facilities. The school was built in four phases, which caused delays and even a lawsuit. The final cost came in at $72.54 per square foot. Eagan High School was a trailblazer in technology. It was the first fully networked high school in the country, boasting six hundred computers donated with a discount by Apple. Every room was equipped with a television that received satellite broadcasts as well as programs from the school’s television studio. Today, the school has wireless internet access throughout the building. Now you know the story behind the Eagan High School!
