Picture this a rustic barn transformed. This is the Dy Scheune in Lubeck. It stands before you a testament to careful restoration and innovative design. The Dy Scheune isn’t just any old barn. It’s a cultural center a meeting place for artists and a venue for unique events.

Originally a simple barn the Dy Scheune has undergone a remarkable transformation. The old iron barn windows were painstakingly restored. Each pane was removed sandblasted galvanized and lacquered. New foundations were laid for the interior walls and gable windows. Reinforced concrete gable supports were added. New gable windows were cut into the structure. To meet energy regulations new Y-clay bricks were added to the exterior walls creating an air gap. Then the gable windows and doors were finally installed.

The interior was cleverly redesigned. Existing large old stable windows were incorporated into the design. No new openings or wall breaches were necessary. Side rooms containing a WC hallway kitchen storage and workshop were adapted to the existing window openings. A new floor was added. This created large light-flooded rooms upstairs. Underfloor heating beneath oak floorboards warms the upper floor. The approximately 180 square meter main floor also has underfloor heating. Additional built-in radiators in front of the gable windows provide extra warmth. They extend from ceiling to floor creating a special ambiance with the natural light. State of the art technology keeps everything up to date.

Outside much physical work was done. A beautiful elevated terrace was created behind the building. Old barn beams serve as support for climbing roses. Five pavilions in front offer versatility. Up to 100 people can celebrate here in a unique atmosphere. A champagne reception on the tree-lined terrace is a perfect start. A separate buffet room a roof studio which could serve as an artists’ dressing room or baby sleeping area and an external kitchen are ideal. The space is not tied to any particular catering service and can be individually designed. An LED lighting system allows for atmospheric colorful illumination. The space is unfurnished. Parking and disabled access are available.

The Dy Scheune a blend of history and modernity. It’s more than just a building. It’s a story waiting to be experienced. It’s a place where the past and present meet creating a space for art celebration and community. This is the Dy Scheune. What will your story be here?
