Founded nearly 1400 years ago, Durmersheim sits nestled between Karlsruhe and Rastatt in the Rhine valley. Durmersheim’s story begins around 600 BC, a testament to its enduring presence. Durmersheim then passed into the hands of the Margraves of Baden around 1300, becoming an integral part of their domain. The town’s location proved significant even in recent history. A little east of Durmersheim, about two kilometers, lies the Hardtwald forest, a green escape within the Rhine valley. Today, Durmersheim thrives with a population exceeding 12,000.
