Can a university be born in a barren field? Duke Kunshan University proves it can. In 2010, this very spot was an empty expanse. Yet, the vision for Duke Kunshan University was already taking root. Duke Kunshan University arose from a unique partnership between Duke University, Wuhan University, and the city of Kunshan. China sought to elevate its higher education standards. Master’s programs in global health, medical physics, and management studies were launched in 2014 as a testing ground. These initial programs thrived, attracting students from around the world.
