Dobie was the first modernist building on the UT campus, bringing a fresh design aesthetic to the university’s landscape. Back then, it was privately owned but in 2021, the University of Texas, realizing the need for more on-campus housing, stepped in and purchased Dobie. Dobie Center isn’t just about housing. It also houses a two-story mall, restaurants, and specialty stores. You can find everything from an Emiliano’s Burrito Factory to a Target within the mall. You can even find a chapel in the mall, making it a real hub of student activity!
