Is this the silence of serenity or the hush of closure? Divine Savior Catholic Church has known both. This unassuming structure in Norridge, Illinois, has been a beacon for the community since 1955. Founded by Father Walter C. Morris at the behest of Cardinal Samuel Stritch, it quickly became a cornerstone, a place for solace and celebration. Yet, change is inevitable, even for spiritual sanctuaries. In 2022, the Archdiocese of Chicago made the difficult decision to conclude regularly scheduled Masses at Divine Savior. It was part of the “Renew My Church” initiative, aiming to restructure and consolidate parishes for a stronger future. Though the doors may be closed to regular services, the spirit of Divine Savior Catholic Church endures. Its legacy is woven into the fabric of Norridge, a testament to faith and community that resonates even in silence.
