Across the bustling streets and iconic landmarks, lies San Francisco’s District 2. It’s a place of distinct neighborhoods, each with its own charm. District 2 encompasses the Marina, Pacific Heights, Cow Hollow, and Presidio Heights. It’s a place where the echoes of history intertwine with the vibrant pulse of modern city life. District 2 has been represented by different supervisors over the years, each leaving their mark.

District 2 was represented by Supervisor Catherine Stefani from January 2018 to December 2024. Stefani was deeply involved in local issues. She championed causes like gun control, public safety, and support for small businesses. She spearheaded the ban on ghost guns in San Francisco. She also advocated for increased police salaries and greater accountability for nonprofits. Stefani also played a key role in housing development projects. She supported the conversion of the former Lucky Penny diner into apartments and the development of UCSF’s Laurel Heights campus into a mixed-use space with housing, parks, and retail.

Currently, District 2 is represented by Supervisor Stephen Sherrill. He assumed office in December 2024. Sherrill, a father of two, focuses on improving the quality of life for families and businesses in District 2. He has a background in public service. He served as the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Innovation under Mayor London Breed. He worked on addressing San Francisco’s homelessness crisis through data-driven solutions and coordinated service delivery. Before moving to San Francisco, Sherrill worked as a senior policy advisor under New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He contributed to initiatives such as clean streets programs, disaster response efforts, and sustainability projects.

District 2 is more than just its political representation. It’s a community of residents, businesses, and families. The area boasts stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the San Francisco Bay. It’s a place where you can stroll along the Marina Green, enjoy a coffee in Cow Hollow, or explore the upscale boutiques of Pacific Heights. District 2 represents a blend of history, community, and the vibrant energy of San Francisco. It is a microcosm of the city itself, reflecting its dynamism and challenges.
