Aarhus University, including the Department of Law, has a rich history. It began in 1928 as “University studies in Jutland.” It started in Aarhus Technical College’s hall. The municipality provided 33,000 Dkr for the first year. Classes were held in rented rooms. The initial teaching staff consisted of one professor and four readers. They taught Danish, English, German, and French.
In its first year, 64 students enrolled. The number grew to 78 during the first semester. A group of citizens formed the University Association Aarhus in 1921. They worked with the municipality to establish a university in Aarhus.
