Slipping through the bustling streets of Denpasar, have you ever wondered about the stories whispered within its vibrant neighborhoods? Dauh Puri Kaja, a district in Denpasar Utara, holds a captivating tale of growth and transformation. Dauh Puri Kaja wasn’t always the distinct area it is today. It began as part of the larger Desa Dauh Puri, under the jurisdiction of Denpasar Barat in Badung Regency. As Denpasar grew, so did its population. New residents flocked to the city, creating a need for more efficient administration. This led to the establishment of preparatory villages, including Dauh Puri Kaja, in 1979. By 1982, Dauh Puri Kaja officially became a village in its own right, initially comprising five banjars: Lumintang, Wangaya Kaja, Wanasari, Wangaya Klod, and Lelangon. The continued population influx and urban development necessitated further administrative divisions. In 1995, two new dusuns, Mekarsari and Terunasari, were carved out of the existing Lumintang dusun. Dauh Puri Kaja now encompasses seven dusuns, each contributing to the rich tapestry of this dynamic community. In 2010, the population stood at 14,965, demonstrating the significant growth since its establishment. By 2016, that number had surged to 25,383, comprising 12,907 men and 12,476 women. Dauh Puri Kaja stands as a testament to Denpasar’s remarkable urban development, a place where history and modern life intertwine.
