“Magicians in the wood industry,” that is what customers call the team here at Danzer Hardwood Excellence. Danzer Hardwood Excellence in Dresden, specifically Kesselsdorf, is the center of Danzer innovation. Let’s delve into what makes this place so special.

Danzer has been around since 1932 when Karl Danzer founded his veneer trading company in Paris. After World War II, Danzer began building his veneer empire. In 1949, he opened his own veneer mill in Reutlingen, Germany. Since then, Danzer has combined tropical veneer production with logging in Africa. A member of the Danzer family has always led the Danzer Group.

Now, here at Danzer Hardwood Excellence, astonishing products are created. Wood is used in ways never thought possible. Danzer develops custom solutions for the automotive and furniture industries. This facility is globally known for its 3D-Veneer.

Founded in 2001, about 65 employees work in development and 3D-Veneer production here. This location houses Danzer Europe’s engineering and IT teams as well as the Danzer Specialty Division.

Danzer is committed to Hardwood Excellence at its production sites worldwide. Each site is located close to resources. This minimizes transport and maximizes efficiency. All facilities adhere to technology and process standards. This keeps product and service quality high. Each Danzer location has the flexibility needed to encourage innovation.

Danzer has approximately 1,600 employees. It serves customers from 18 sales offices worldwide. The company owns and sustainably manages forests in North America. It produces sliced veneer, lumber and innovative wood products for decorative purposes. Danzer products are used in high-quality furniture, kitchen cabinets, cars and other applications.

Danzer products are not sold to end users. They are sold to manufacturers, distributors and component producers.

Danzer is organized by business units for products and regions. Every business unit runs its own production and sales operation. Danzer has eight production facilities and 12 sales offices.

Danzer’s largest facility is in the Czech Republic. This veneer production site is among the most technologically advanced in the industry. It produces standard veneers to rare burls. It also creates sliced flooring lamellas to technical veneers and high-volume components.

Another Danzer site is in Edinburgh, Indiana. It lies in the heart of one of the most valuable forest areas in the world. The area is known for high-quality Walnut and White Oak. It attracted many hardwood companies and was dubbed the veneer capital of the world.

Danzer acquired one of those early Edinburgh veneer companies. It was David R. Webb, established in 1894. Since then, Danzer has improved the site and grown the business. The facility now runs four proprietary best-in-class Danzer VS4000 slicers. It also runs one Danzer RSL4000 staylog peeling lathe. It is the location of the innovative hardwood log scanner.

Danzer’s Darlington, Pennsylvania facility is the central clipping, grading and sorting facility for North American veneer production. This makes it easier for customers to find what they need.

From humble beginnings to global innovation, Danzer Hardwood Excellence continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible with wood. Here in Kesselsdorf, the legacy of innovation thrives.
