Standing here, in front of the Dalworth Park Church of Christ, you can almost hear the echoes of faith and community that have reverberated through its walls since the 1930s. The church, originally named the Sherman Street Church of Christ, was born out of a small, burgeoning community in Grand Prairie, Texas called Dalworth. It started with the simple act of a small frame house donated by other congregations to accommodate a growing group of believers, only forty people at the time.

The church was built in 1940s on what was then known as Sherman Street, attracting a community of families who were seeking a place to worship and connect, especially those who were relocating from nearby Arlington, Texas. It was a time of growth and expansion, and the church soon outgrew its humble beginnings.

And, what once was a simple frame house, has since grown into the beautiful and capacious building you see today. A new brick building was added in 1963, catering to a burgeoning membership that had gone from just twenty-two to ninety-six. Fast forward to 2003, a new auditorium was built to accommodate a congregation of three hundred and twenty.

The church’s history is a testament to the power of faith and community. It has been a place of refuge, inspiration, and growth for generations of devoted individuals. It’s no wonder why the church was renamed the Dalworth Park Church of Christ in 2004. Today, the church not only stands as a symbol of faith, but it also serves as a vital cornerstone of the Dallas community.
