Journey back to 1993. Imagine a group of enthusiastic physicists and puzzle masters gathered in Budapest. Their mission? To create a place where science comes alive, a “science playhouse” as they called it. This dream eventually became the Csodák Palotája, Hungary’s first interactive science center. Csodák Palotája, or “Palace of Wonders,” was the brainchild of Professor József Öveges. He envisioned a place where visitors, especially children, could experience the “magic of science”. Today, the Csodák Palotája stands as a testament to his vision. Located in Óbuda within the Buda Entertainment & Gastro building, this 5000 square meter center houses over 250 interactive exhibits. From exploring Newton’s apple orchard to navigating the magnetic field, visitors can experience physics firsthand. The Csodák Palotája also delves into biology with the “Birth and World” exhibition, chemistry in the Richter Gedeon laboratory, and geology with the Csopa GeoLab workshops. The center is a whirlwind of interactive games, physics experiments, and escape rooms. Visitors can experience thrilling activities. You can ride the “Strange-wheeled Car”, create a whirlwind, or lie on the Fakír bed. You can lose yourself in the Mirror Maze or take a selfie with a life-sized Moon rover. The Öveges Stage hosts daily performances, showcasing spectacular science shows with exciting experiments. For those seeking a challenge, four escape rooms await. “The City Renewed,” “The Surveyor’s Room,” “Emergency,” and “Spacecraft” offer varying difficulty levels. The Richter Gedeon laboratory invites visitors to don safety glasses and lab coats for a hands-on chemistry experience. From classic exhibits like the “Building Pendulum” and “How far would you jump in the Solar System?” to the mesmerizing “Flying Bicycle Wheel”, there is something for everyone at Csodák Palotája. The Csodák Palotája caters to all ages, from preschoolers exploring the Csipet Csopa trail to adults rediscovering their inner child.
