Have you ever wondered about the history of a place before it became what it is today? The Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Orland Park has a fascinating past. Standing here, you might think that this church has always been part of the suburban landscape. But before it was a place of worship for Orthodox Presbyterians, this property was a bustling Church of the Nazarene. The first worship services of the Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church were held in the cafeteria of Chicago Christian High School. In 1995, the church purchased the property from the Church of the Nazarene and after major renovations, opened its doors in 1998. Dr. De Jong, the first pastor of the Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, announced his retirement in 1998. A Search Committee was formed and Rev. Wright accepted the call to be pastor in 1999. He remains the pastor to this day. The church, now a cornerstone of the community, is a testament to the enduring faith of those who built this place of worship.
