Seventeen souls. That’s how it began. In 1978 a small group called Emmanuel Christian Fellowship planted a seed of faith. That seed blossomed into the Covenant Evangelical Free Church we see before us today. This wasn’t just any church. It was a vision. A mission to nurture authentic intentional disciples.
Covenant Evangelical Free Church isn’t confined to one location. It has three worship centres. One in Bukit Panjang another in Woodlands and a third at the Suntec Convention Centre. This sprawling presence reflects its ambition. Its dedication to spreading its message far and wide.
The Woodlands facility is a testament to growth. Completed in 2008 it boasts six levels. Two underground for parking four above for worship. Imagine the community gathered within those walls. The shared prayers the collective joy the feeling of belonging.
The church’s philosophy focuses on disciplemaking. It’s not simply about attendance. It’s about fostering a deep personal relationship with Christ. A two-year discipleship program helps members achieve this. This program features scriptural study journaling and even a semester exam. It demonstrates a commitment to spiritual growth that goes beyond Sunday sermons.
Reverend Tony Yeo and Reverend Tan Kay Kiong lead this congregation. They are senior pastors dedicated to guiding their flock. Other leaders such as Elder Amos Leong and Reverend Edmund Chan also contribute. Their collective experience and wisdom shape the church’s direction.
The church hosts the annual IDMC Conference. This significant event brings together pastors and lay leaders. They come from Singapore and other countries. It showcases the church’s influence beyond its local community. It’s a demonstration of its commitment to global outreach.
This isn’t just a building. It’s a living organism. A testament to the power of faith. The dedication of its members. It’s a place where community flourishes. Where spiritual growth is nurtured. A place where the message of Christ echoes far and wide. A place that began with seventeen souls and continues to grow. A place that is the Covenant Evangelical Free Church.
