Slipping through time, we find ourselves at the Cova des Pi Mort. This isn’t just any cave. Cova des Pi Mort translates to “Cave of the Dead Pine”. It’s a balma, a rock shelter, nestled within the Serra de na Burguesa near Calvià. Cova des Pi Mort sits quietly beside the path, partially hidden by vegetation. The ascent is easy, a short climb upwards. The cave faces southeast to northwest. It measures 9 meters wide and 6 meters deep, with an interior height of 7 meters. Inside Cova des Pi Mort, you’ll find no stalactites, no stalagmites, no flowing formations. It is a simple, raw space carved by nature.
