Cours Albert 1er a Parisian promenade. Its history stretches back to 1618. Marie de Medici envisioned it as a royal walkway. It originally extended from the Tuileries all the way to the present-day Place de l’Alma. Cours la Reine was its name then. It was a place for horse-drawn carriages and elegant strolls.

In 1918 a significant renaming occurred. The section between the Pont des Invalides and the Pont de l’Alma became Cours Albert 1er. This honored King Albert I of Belgium his heroism during the Great War.

The Cours Albert 1er isn’t just a street it’s an open-air museum. A bronze statue of Komitas stands on one side. It is a tribute to the Armenian victims of the 1915 genocide. On the other side a monument dedicated to Adam Mickiewicz. This was a gift from Poland to Paris. Originally located at Place de l’Alma it found its current home in 1956.
