Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church was born from the union of two congregations: Concord Missionary Baptist Church and Rose Olivet Missionary Baptist Church. Both churches had served their respective communities, Bayview/Hunters Point and Visitation Valley, for years. Each held a unique history, filled with triumphs and challenges. In 2000, under the guidance of Pastor Kenneth R. Reece, these two churches merged. They became one body, choosing the name “Cornerstone” to symbolize their new, shared foundation. This new beginning allowed them to adopt a powerful theme: “Building a Bridge for A Better Tomorrow with a Vision for Changing Lives Through Healing, Hope and Harmony.” The very location of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, at 6190 Third Street, became a symbol of this bridge, connecting communities and histories. Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church has grown under the leadership of Pastor Reece, and later, Dr. Rodney Leggett. They have added new ministries, strengthened their community, and even hosted state and city-wide religious events.
