Sadly Connect Baptist Church is closing. It’s a poignant moment. We stand before Connect Baptist Church on Everglade Drive. This building has been a cornerstone of the Goodwood Heights community since 1986. For many years Connect Baptist Church welcomed worshippers. Its doors opened every Sunday for services. Its mission was simple. Connect with God connect with His church connect with the world. They strived to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in everything they did.
Connect Baptist Church wasn’t just a place of worship. It was a hub of activity. They actively supported various charities. Arotahi formerly known as NZBMS received both financial and prayer support. Connect Baptist Church also partnered with Christians Against Poverty CAP NZ. They supported CAP’s debt help centers across New Zealand. Their commitment extended overseas too. They supported missionaries reaching unreached people groups in Central Asia. The church also aided Caleb Leadership Ministries NZ. This organization trains Christian leaders globally.
The church’s beliefs were rooted in the Baptist faith. They held to a set of core values. These values guided their mission and daily ministry plans. They believed God’s Word had the power to transform lives. They held to the belief that all people mattered to God. The church embraced cultural relevance while remaining faithful to their doctrine. They emphasized spiritual growth community and excellence.
But the financial realities of maintaining a place of worship proved insurmountable. On February 23rd 2025 Connect Baptist Church held its final service. A closing service marked the end of an era. Many attended this service to remember. It was a time of reflection and gratitude. It highlighted the church’s impact on the lives of many. The church’s legacy lives on through the lives it touched. Though the building will close its doors its spirit of community service and faith will endure. Remember the legacy of Connect Baptist Church.
