Could a church be a home? For many, Community Presbyterian Church of Lombard is exactly that. Community Presbyterian Church of Lombard stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of faith. It was organized on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 1929. The church began as a mission of the Presbytery of Chicago. The initial membership was small, only 34 people. Imagine, a time when this bustling suburb was just a small village! Back then, there was only one church and one school to serve 300 residents. The first church structure wasn’t built until 1938. The original building was a charming white frame colonial-style structure, located right where the current sanctuary stands today. Community Presbyterian Church of Lombard continued to grow alongside the community. By 1960, the Sunday School enrollment skyrocketed to an impressive 700 children. The church has seen many transformations and expansions over the years. Despite these changes, it has remained a steadfast beacon of faith and community for almost a century. Today, Community Presbyterian Church of Lombard stands as a testament to the power of faith, resilience, and the importance of community.
