This expansion transformed it from a communauté de communes to a communauté d’agglomération. Chalifert and Lesches joined in 2007 and 2008. Jablines became the 16th commune in December 2011. Montévrain integrated in 2013 and Bussy-Saint-Georges in 2014. Finally, in 2017, Ferrières-en-Brie and Pontcarré integrated. Now, the Communauté d’agglomération Marne et Gondoire includes 20 communes.
The council consists of municipal representatives. These hail from all 20 communes within Marne et Gondoire. There are a total of 51 community councillors. The number of seats per commune depends on its population. This follows a proportional representation rule as required by law.
Since 2006, the headquarters have been located at the Domaine de Rentilly. This is in the commune of Bussy-Saint-Martin. The Menier family once owned this estate. They also owned the Menier chocolate factory in Noisiel. Today, that factory is the headquarters of Nestlé France. The entire Domaine de Rentilly now belongs to the Communauté d’agglomération.
