“This place doesn’t look like much now, does it?” College Park might seem unassuming at first glance. But don’t let that fool you. This six-acre park, nestled right across from North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park, holds a surprising amount of fun and a fascinating future. College Park is a haven for families. Kids can enjoy the playground, while adults can stroll along the park’s trails or set up a picnic. The park even offers a shelter for those unexpected rain showers. But College Park isn’t just for warm weather. Come winter, the park transforms into a winter wonderland with a maintained skating rink. And if the cold gets too much, the activity building is open for warming chilly fingers and toes. Looking ahead, College Park is in for some exciting changes. The future Light Rail Corridor will pass right through, bringing with it a new stormwater pond, parking lot, and connecting trails. They’re even planning to add a year-round indoor restroom to the activity building. So, while College Park is already a gem in Brooklyn Park, the future holds even more promise for this little park with a big heart.
