Is this the birthplace of public health in Taiwan? Right here, you’re standing before the College of Public Health, NTU! It might not look like much from the outside, but this institution, established in 1972, marked a turning point in Taiwan’s approach to healthcare. Before the College of Public Health, NTU existed, there was the Graduate Institute of Public Health, founded in 1951. This Institute itself has roots in an even older organization – the Institute of Tropical Medicine, established during the Japanese Colonial Period. Imagine the knowledge and experience passed down through those years! The College of Public Health, NTU hasn’t just been educating students. It’s been shaping the very framework of public health in Taiwan. In a bold move in 1993, the College of Public Health, NTU became independent from the College of Medicine. This marked the birth of the nation’s first College of Public Health. Today, the College of Public Health, NTU stands as a testament to Taiwan’s dedication to proactive healthcare, and a shining example to the world.
