The College Hill Church of Christ a beacon of faith stands before you. Its story begins not here but in Hillsboro. In 1857 the first Church of Christ in Hill County met in Walding near Malone. Over time the faith spread. By 1893 a church was built in Hillsboro. It cost $4500. J D Tant and W G Ethridge helped establish the congregation. Growth led to a move in 1940. The church acquired a beautiful Gothic building on East Elm Street for $10000. It boasted a balcony and a basement for classrooms. The auditorium was stunning with its high arched ceiling and ornate wooden beams. The church continued to grow. In 1970 a new facility was needed. The congregation relocated to its current home next to the Bible Chair becoming the College Hill Church of Christ. The old East Elm building was demolished. Its lot was sold for $25000. Today the College Hill Church of Christ remains a vibrant community. It offers Sunday worship and Bible classes. Wednesday services and classes also take place. Children’s and youth ministries thrive. The church offers online giving and live-streamed services. College Hill Church of Christ stands as a testament to enduring faith. It is a place where generations have found spiritual home and community. It continues to serve and inspire. It is a place of hope. A testament to the enduring power of faith.
