Cobal do Humaitá got its name from Companhia Brasileira de Alimentos COBAL. This company was created in 1962 by the government of João Goulart. It aimed to supply affordable food to families with low incomes. Cobal do Humaitá became one of the places where these products could be bought.
Today, Cobal do Humaitá covers about 10,000 square meters. It is now a gastronomic center in Rio. You’ll find 3 kiosks, 97 boxes, 84 shops, and 7 rooms. These include wine shops, pet stores, and restaurants.
You can find almost anything here. There are florists, supermarkets and natural product stores. The Cobal do Humaitá caters to diverse tastes.
